UBC Celebrate Learning Week - "Who Knew? Life Changing Advances in Women's Health"

Oct 28 2010 - 7:00pm
Oct 28 2010 - 9:00pm

Join Dr. Jerilynn Prior for an exciting and informative evening discussing the latest in women's health research.

This lively presentation will review new knowledge of practical importance for the health and well being of adolescent and premenopausal women as well as for women in perimenopause and menopause. It will address issues of menstrual cramps, knowing if you're ovulating, night sweats and sleep disturbances.

Young and adolescent women will learn about non-hormonal ways to decrease heavy flow and cramps and know if they are fertile. Midlife women will appreciate they are not alone during the storm season that is perimenopause with its paradoxical heavy flow, night sweats and sore breasts as well as learn the hormonal and social reasons for these experiences. Menopausal women will be offered new ways to prevent and treat hot flushes and, if chosen, effective strategies that will allow them to discontinue taking estrogen therapy.
